Lindsay Rose Being in shape... squares, triangles, circles...

It’s a beautiful day here in New Hampshire, breezy, in the 80s, and without a drop of humidity. I’ve been hard at work learning about how to winterize a horse trailer for the October EJ issue, and about several riding destinations in the south for the September issue of Salt Block. Coincidentally, I don’t own a horse trailer, nor could I afford (at this point) to shlep my horse trailer (that I don’t have!) and my pony off to ride on the beaches of South Carolina! Swatting deerflies while trekkin… Continue

Celeste Karpf Equine Social Media On the Rise

This morning I had the pleasure of chatting with Vicki O'Hara, President of the Equine Extravaganza in Doswell, VA, this October 29-31 and her daughter, Rachel, who has been working on posting the event's updates via Facebook. We were sharing information and tips on working with social media and what ways to get noticed. http://www.facebook.com/equineextravaganza
It got me thinking about everything I had learned and what social media i… Continue

Lindsay Rose Unrealistic Fears

I’ve been thinking a lot about unrealistic fears. Why we have them, where they come from, and why they’re unique to just us. We all have some that we know are completely ridiculous, but that doesn’t change the fact they’re still there. A good friend of mine events at preliminary and has been for many years. She’s got a great little Thoroughbred that must be the most solid, reliable horse ever. At probably about 15hh, he pretty much defies gravity. Once in a while I groom for her at shows or will… Continue

Lindsay Rose Equine Style or Equine Embarassing?

To use the name of the popular fashion line, I think it's about time that my "Equine Couture" took another step toward maturity and another step away from humiliating my horse. I was riding her down the road, on my way back from a super fun trail ride when I caught sight of the hot pink satin fly bonnet that I've been forcing over her ears for at least the last three years. I laughed, shook my head, and then decided perhaps it's time to try to grow up. I'll be 22 at the end of August and have a… Continue

Last weekend I went on a long trail ride by the Rio Grande river. It was an amazing ride, up and down lots of steep hills and jumping over ravines and such. Great fun. It's been a terrible winter, cold and lots of snow-so the truth is I hadn't ridden in several months. When I got off that horse I could barely walk. The next day - I was TOTALLY sore. Feeling stiff and sore all day I got on the internet and dug around for some exercises you could do for horseback riding. I thought to myself woul… Continue

We have had a really exciting week at EquestrianCollegeRecruiter.com

Sally Frick and Crystal Bohnen of Converse College cane to Ocala to interview some of our riders in person.

Jennifer Roberts The 5 Horses We Meet In Life

I found this on Facebook... Love it! 1. The Intro Horse We each came into horses in our own way, but it was always with a horse leading us. This might have been a friend's first pony, or perhaps it was a draft horse on a farm you once visited It might have been a real-life meeting, or an imaginary one. 2. The Experimental Horse Once you had crossed the line between "Darn, they're big!" and "Wow! Can I try that?" you found yourself face-to-face with the horse that would suffer through your ear… Continue

Quarter Horse AQHA this is for everyone.

This is my favorite saying in the movie DREAMER: INSPIRED BY A TRUE STORY. "You are a great champion. When you ran, the ground shook, the sky opened and mere mortals parted. Parted the way to victory, where you'll meet me in the winner's circle, where I'll put a blanket of flowers on your back." If you never watched the movie Dreamer, i will consider this movie to anyone. I've watched this movie several times, and also it's a great family movie. There is a few parts in the movie that has mild… Continue
